Dr Mehtab Ghazi Rahman is an accomplished Consultant Psychiatrist based in London, with expertise spanning clinical care, mental health leadership, service development, and medical education. He currently leads the Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS) and serves as Medical Lead for Inpatient Services at St Charles Hospital in Kensington & Chelsea, London. He has previously worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in psychiatric intensive care units and has held the position of Medical Director at a private hospital in London. 

Dr Rahman obtained his medical degree from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London Medical School and completed his postgraduate training in Adult and Liaison Psychiatry through the prestigious St Mary’s and Charing Cross training schemes in London.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Rahman holds senior leadership roles at the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (NAPICU), UK. He is a recognised Clinical and Educational Supervisor by the General Medical Council (UK) and is actively involved in teaching at Imperial College Medical School and the University of Buckingham Medical School. He also serves as an examiner at Imperial College and at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. 

Dr Rahman has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, authored a book chapter for Cambridge University Press, and has been awarded multiple times for his quality improvement work in mental health services. His clinical leadership and service development work have recently been highlighted in The Times newspaper and on ITV.

In recognition of his commitment to education and training, Dr Rahman was awarded “Trainer of the Year” by Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.
